Rae Schmitt

Rae was born to Fred Harrison and Florence Allen Harrison on September 5, 1919 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She is the last surviving sibling of Ruth, Winnie, Charlotte and Allen.

Rae married Robert Read in 1942 in Illinois and had 3 children, Russell Read, Martin Read, and Laurie Read Jones. After her husband’s death, Rae met, fell in love with and married Loren Schmitt in 1991 in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where they spent almost 30 happy and loving years. In 2014 Rae and Loren moved to Country Club Village in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she spent the remaining few years of her life.  She died peacefully in CHI St. Vincent Hospital, in Arkansas Hospice on March 30, 2017.
